Influence of dental aesthetics on the self-esteem of university students

Objective: The objective of this research is to analyze the influence of dental aesthetics on the self-esteem of young students at the Universidad Autónoma Regional de los Andes, Santo Domingo Campus. Method: A descriptive investigation was carried out for an effective data sampling, using the random sampling technique. Results and conclusions: The results reflected that different factors could seriously affect the behavior and self-perception of young people, as well as their self-esteem due to the beauty standards imposed by today's society, today it has become a necessity to take care of the dentofacial aesthetics and try to achieve perfection. People with significant dentofacial disharmony show negative self-esteem and poor social adjustment, since general appearance and social acceptability are positioned as determinants of the possibility that people have a good self-perception.
