Evaluation of failures in the fitting of total lower limb prostheses in older adults

Objective: To analyze the most common failures in the adaptation of total lower prosthesis in older adults in the gerontological center "Señor de los Remedios", Ciudad Nueva Urban Parish, Píllaro Canton, Tungurahua Province. Method: Observational and descriptive study of 60 older adults. Conclusion: Within the causes that generates in older adults of the Gerontological Center "Señor de los Remedios" of the urban parish Ciudad Nueva, it is deduced that there is a total neglect in relation to the maintenance of the total prosthesis with a higher percentage in men, with associated factors such as the consumption of cigarette, alcohol, carelessness in the brushing of the prosthesis, among other factors, in both genders it can be mentioned that there is a problem of lower gum shrinkage that can be caused by age, this is one of the most frequent causes of problems of adaptability by the lower prosthesis in older adults.
