Evaluation of the internal control system and its impact on the finances of a company

The objective of this scientific article is to determine the level of compliance with the Internal Control System of the Property, Plant and Equipment account of Empresa Eléctrica Riobamba S.A. According to the scope, it was based on the development of descriptive research. The analysis and result determined that the internal control system of the Property, Plant and Equipment account of Empresa Eléctrica Riobamba S.A., reached a confidence level of 68% and a risk level of 32%, which represents a medium rating. In conclusion, it was obtained that the main causes for which the internal control system of the EERSA Properties, Plant and Equipment account was not effective, is due to lack of definition of responsibilities in the different positions of the Administration Unit of Inventories and Appraisals, accuracy and opportunity in the execution of activities; poor review and updating of manuals and procedures.
