Breast self-examination for breast cancer prevention

Objective: To analyze breast self-examination for the prevention of breast cancer. Method: Descriptive documentary, 15 scientific articles published in PubMed were reviewed. Conclusion: Breast self-examination is a valuable tool for the early detection of breast cancer, but its effectiveness is conditioned by factors such as education, access to resources and confidence in the technique. The studies analyzed demonstrate that the implementation of educational program and technological tools can significantly improve its adoption, especially in vulnerable populations.
