Objective: To analyze primary prevention of oral hygiene from home care. Method: Descriptive documentary. Conclusion: Primary prevention of oral hygiene, initiated in the family environment, emerges as a fundamental strategy in the fight against oral diseases, particularly dental caries, in children and adolescents. Evidence underscores that early adoption of preventive practices, supported by the knowledge and involvement of caregivers, is key to mitigating oral health inequity and reducing the overall burden of these diseases. However, for these interventions to be truly effective, a comprehensive approach is needed that combines education, accessibility to preventive resources, and implementation of public health policies that ensure equitable access to these strategies.
