Abstract

Objective: To study the chronology of the development of deciduous teeth in infants at the San Carlos Health Center, Tonsupa, Ecuador. Method: Descriptive observational study. Results: Regarding the chronology of dental eruption, the study revealed that most of the infants (40%) began to show their first teeth at around six months of age, followed by 30% who did so at four months. This is in line with international guidelines on dental eruption in infancy. Conclusion: Important trends in the chronology of deciduous tooth development and oral health practices among infants at the San Carlos Health Center in Tonsupa, Ecuador is revealed. Inadequate frequency of dental visits and lack of use of tools to alleviate teething discomfort reflect an urgent need to improve education and access to oral health services in this community.
