Methods of obtaining minocycline microspheres and their uses in dental health care

Abstract

Objective: To describe the methods of obtaining minocycline microspheres and to determine the degree of knowledge of the teachers of the Unidad de Atención Odontológica (UAO) Uniandes about how to obtain this drug. Method: Descriptive observational study. Results and conclusion: The teachers of Unidad de Atención Odontológica (UAO) Uniandes do not know about the methods of obtaining minocycline microspheres so 4 % use tetracycline in clinical practice, 93 % know about the adverse effects of tetracycline, 32 % do not know the mechanism of action of tetracycline, 96% are not aware of the pharmaceutical forms of minocycline marketed in Ecuador, 100% have not used extended release devices with minocycline microspheres, 96% do not know the methods of obtaining minocycline microspheres.
