Objective: to analyze the care of the central venous line in intensive care. Method: Documentary descriptive. Results and conclusion: CVC-related infections are a problem of special relevance and frequency, and their morbidity, among them bacteremia is the most fearsome nosocomial infection. Evaluation systems are important to determine deficiencies in nursing knowledge about CVC, so they can help correct errors in practice, and improve the quality of care and patient safety.
