Abstract

Objective: To develop a diagnostic study on the incidence of gastric cancer in older adult patients with chronic gastritis attended at the internal medicine service of the Hospital IESS Latacunga. Method: Clinical histories. Results: It was determined that 45% of people with gastric cancer are in stage IIA, 39% in stage IV: final, 11% in stage 0 and the remaining 5% in stage IA. Conclusion: In order to reduce the incidence levels of gastric cancer development, early detection is necessary, which is possible through health promotion and disease prevention measures, such as healthy eating habits and routine check-ups every 6 months, in people over 60 years of age, which contribute to maintain and improve people's health.
