Vocational orientation and its influence on the choice of college careers

The objective of this research was to determine the relationship between vocational orientation (OV) and the choice of university careers (ECU). Of a descriptive correlational type, the study population consisted of 51 students in the third year of high school. The Pearson correlation between OV and ECU shows a low positive relationship, which indicates that vocational orientation has influenced their career choice; however, it is necessary to deepen the work of OV in the sample studied. Adolescents in the last year of high school feel more vulnerable with respect to their future life and decision making, in many occasions they end up in desertion in the first years of the career, some of them have as a goal to finish high school studies and continue their education with a university career, when the conditions, social, economic and cultural allow them to do so.
