Problems associated with tobacco use in medical students.

Objective: to determine in an integral and exhaustive way the affections that tobacco produces in the health of second semester students of medicine parallel “F”, of the Universidad Regional Autónoma de los Andes. Method: Descriptive observational. Results: it is recognized that the majority of respondents do not feel any dependence on cigarettes while 33.3% at some time have felt dependence on tobacco. Conclusion: The prevalence of tobacco use is more related to stress than to lack of knowledge, and a greater efficacy is established if the focus is given to stress management and the importance of mental health, hoping that in this way students will not have to resort to tobacco or any other type of drug seeking a decrease in stress or greater social acceptance.
