Objective: To analyze the characteristics of the dental pulp at an advanced age in extracted teeth and their relationship with correct endodontic treatment. Method: Descriptive documentary study of 15 articles published in the last 10 years in PubMed, Scopus and WOS databases. Conclusion: Endodontic treatment in the elderly is technically complex and will require skill on the part of the operator to carry it out. This difficulty is partly due to the biological changes that aging has caused in the pulp-dentin complex, and partly due to the effects of the irritant factors to which the tooth has been exposed throughout life.
