Nursing interventions in the postoperative period following thyroidectomy

Objective: To analyze the available scientific evidence on nursing interventions in the postoperative period of patients undergoing thyroidectomy. Method: A qualitative and descriptive literature review was conducted in scientific databases, applying previously established inclusion and exclusion criteria, which allowed for the selection of sixteen relevant studies. Results: It was found that the application of structured care protocols, enhanced recovery programs, cognitive interventions, and non-pharmacological strategies contributed to reducing pain, anxiety, nausea, and cervical disability, as well as reducing hospital stay and the incidence of complications. Conclusion: Evidence-based nursing interventions improved clinical outcomes and strengthened the quality of postoperative care in thyroidectomy.
