Objectives: To determine the prevalence of recurrent infections associated with nursing care in critically ill patients in a hospital in Quito in April 2022. Method: Descriptive, retrospective study in which data were collected from statistical records of infection notifications and microbiological tests from the H200 system, software used by the Alianza Clinic in Ecuador. The population included 20 patients who required biological material culture during their stay in the Intensive Care Unit. Results: The majority were men (60%) and adults between 31-61 years of age (50%) from other hospital units. Eight infections were confirmed by laboratory criteria, with a higher incidence of Gram-positive pathogens, Staphylococcus aureus being the most prevalent (37.5%). Pearson's coefficient showed a very strong positive relationship (0.667) between length of hospitalization and the development of healthcare-associated infections
