Palliative care in pediatric oncology: the role and challenges of nursing

Abstract

Objective: To analyze palliative care in pediatric oncology: Role and challenges of nursing.  Method: It was developed from a quantitative approach with a descriptive methodology with a non-experimental design, which was supported by documentary-bibliographic analysis. It was based on the methodical, rigorous and in-depth exploration of documentary material of scientific works. Results: Nursing as a profession provides care through actions and interventions based on scientific foundations and skills. In conclusion: Nursing is an essential part of the multidisciplinary team of pediatric palliative care, which requires constant updating of knowledge and action under scientific support, with pharmacological and non-pharmacological interventions aimed at the use of recreational and complementary tools.
