The importance of the use of sealants in the second childhood for the protection of the oral cavity

Objective: To analyze the importance of the use of sealants in second childhood for the protection of the oral cavity. Method: Descriptive documentary, 15 papers were analyzed from PubMed. Conclusion: Dental sealants have been shown to be a key intervention in the prevention of caries during second childhood, providing effective protection at a crucial moment in dental development. Their application in pits and fissures of the first permanent molars not only prevents the appearance of carious lesions, but also contributes to the reduction of oral health disparities, especially in populations with limited access to dental care.
