Abstract

Objective: To analyze the rational use of medicines by dentists. Method: Descriptive documentary study. Conclusion: Rational use of medicines is an essential component of safe and effective dental practice. Irrational prescribing not only compromises patient health, but also contributes to public health problems such as antibiotic resistance. It is imperative that dentists engage in continuing education, adherence to clinical guidelines, and implementation of strategies that promote rational prescribing. In this way, the quality of dental care can be improved and the health of the community at large can be protected.
