Fournier's gangrene. Case study

Objective: Presentation of two clinical cases of Fournier's gangrene. Method: clinical case. Case 1 Male patient, 66 years old, native and resident of Ambato (Pelileo), farmer, complete primary school education. No pathologic history, personal surgical history: tibia fracture 2 years ago, left ocular trauma 9 years ago. Case 2 Female patient, 61 years old, born and resident of Ambato (Picaihua), mestizo, divorced, basic education, right-handed, housework. Personal pathological history: insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus 15 IU AM and 12 IU PM, chronic pyelonephritis. Conclusion: There is a clinical correlation between the infectious focus with the development of the disease and mortality. That is to say, the greater the extension of Fournier's gangrene, the longer the hospital stay, complications and mortality of the patient; in addition, it presents similar distributions when compared with other studies.
