Objective: to analyze the physiopathology of injuries in cranioencephalic trauma. Method: Descriptive documentary. Results and conclusion: The findings of this research have revealed histopathological alterations consistent with previous studies, such as hemorrhages, cerebral edema, diffuse axonal damage and inflammatory changes. In addition, neuroimaging techniques have identified the presence of hematomas, contusions, and cerebral edema, providing important information for the diagnosis and follow-up of brain lesions. Electrophysiological studies have demonstrated changes in brain electrical activity, which could be associated with the cognitive and behavioral deficits observed in patients with TBI. Molecular studies have identified specific biomarkers released in response to TBI, which could have implications for diagnosis, prognosis and development of new therapeutic strategies.
