Nursing interventions in the care of the preoperative cholecystectomy patient

Objective: to describe the role of the nursing staff in pre-surgical patients who undergo cholecystectomy, by exposing the functions performed during the preparation of the patient. Method: Descriptive documentary. Results and conclusion: The nurse is one of the indispensable members of the surgical team, plays an important role in the preparation of the patient from the beginning to the end of the intervention, which is why he/she constitutes a key element in the reduction or elimination of adverse effects that may occur during the assistance in the operating room. Each one of the nursing activities detailed in this document serves as a guide for a correct preparation of the patient, in addition to ensuring good physical and psycho-social conditions to create a safe environment for both the patient and the family.
