Abstract

Objective: to evaluate the relationship between social and family support and psychological well-being of nursing students at the Ambato campus of the Universidad de los Andes (UNIANDES). Method: Descriptive observational. Results: Some students have faced problems in communicating with their family and friends, and although a significant percentage (40.49%) stated that they have always received emotional support when they needed it, an important proportion (31.29% and 19.63%) have received it only frequently or sometimes, and a significant percentage (6.75% and 1.84%) have received little or no support. Conclusion: When nursing students experience a greater network of social and family support, they present better levels of psychological well-being and are better able to cope with stress and difficulties, which translates into greater resilience and decreased levels of anxiety and depression.
