Carpal tunnel syndrome in administrative personnel of the Ecuadorian institute of social security, Ecuador

Objective: to estimate the number of cases susceptible to develop carpal tunnel syndrome in administrative employees of the IESS in the province of Napo - Ecuador. Method: Descriptive observational. Results: From the FSS subscale, it was observed that 16.67% of the total population had difficulty in opening bottles, 22.23% had difficulty in carrying shopping bags, among the most predominant, the rest of the population had no difficulty in performing the functions. Conclusions: It was possible to estimate the presence of susceptible cases of CTS in the workers of the administrative area of the Ecuadorian Institute of Social Security, observing that this condition is more prevalent in the female sex over 50 years of age and that it is closely linked to the type of activity they perform, in this case, typing on a computer.
