Objective: to analyze nursing care in the prevention of eye injuries in critically ill adult patients under sedation. Method: Documentary review. Results and conclusion: The development of standardized nursing care protocols for such care is strongly recommended; With the current health crisis and the increase in ICU patients, the risk of displacing care of the ocular surface can lead to devastating results for patients' vision; For this reason, it has been shown that the implementation of standard algorithms for their care (adapted to the available resources) can substantially improve nursing practice and improve the chances of a positive outcome for critically ill patients.
