Work stress in nursing staff of the intensive care unit in clinic

Abstract

Objective: to determine the influence exerted by socioeconomic factors on the work stress of the nursing staff of the Intensive Care Unit of the Quito Clinic, Ecuador. Method: Descriptive observation in a population of 12 nurses. Results and Conclusion: The presence of stress for each one of the dimensions, it was found that in 50% of the nurses a confirmed level of stress appears, in 33.3% the intermediate level and in 16.7% the low level. The areas explored in this research through the ILO/WHO instrument, and through interviews with managers of the Quito Clinic (vice director and Nursing Coordinator), have allowed us to determine the different socioeconomic factors that generate stress in the Nursing staff of the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), and given the risk of these factors have shown an intermediate level of stress.
