Abstract

Objective: To provide updated information on the current treatment schemes and the best prognosis for this pathology. Method: A systematic bibliographic review of different scientific documents in databases such as Pubmed, SciELO, MEDLINE and ScienceDirect was carried out. Results and conclusions: Recently, several studies say that the endovascular procedure has improved and has been used to manage complicated and challenging cases of Leriche syndrome with low rates of postoperative complications compared to open bypass surgery with aortofemoral bypass; Endovascular treatment not only achieved a better and durable long-term patency rate for complex cases of aortoiliac occlusive disease.
