Abstract

Objective: To describe the indices of the evaluation scale on knowledge of dementia. Method: The study was qualitative, the research design was bibliographic, which is based on the systematic, rigorous and in-depth review of documentary material of any kind. Results: The results indicated that frontotemporal dementia (FTD) accounts for ∼10% of dementia cases and is the most common cause of early-onset dementia. However, currently in Malaysia, there is no well-validated instrument to measure knowledge of FTD. The findings revealed a three-dimensional structure of the factor loadings (0.69-0.77) indicating that the items were strongly associated with their respective factors, as well as the subscale using cognitive assessments and attention interventions. Conclusion: The need to validate the scales on dementia in the context of a country is evident, and it is also important to implement a statistical analysis.
