Abstract

Introduction: The interest in this topic arises due to the lack of information about it. Objective: to analyze gynecological-obstetric violence in the province of Tungurahua - Ecuador. Methods: descriptive observational study. Results: 40 women stated that during the gynecologic consultation they evidenced poor hygiene, both in terms of biosecurity measures and of the implements used for the inspection. 173 women expressed that their modesty was disrespected. Conclusion: The existence of gynecological-obstetric violence in the province of Tungurahua is exposed in a significant range of the surveyed population as an elementary contribution to the education of women, health care providers and those who are in the process of training, in the prevention, identification and correct notification of events framed in this type of violence that allow establishing an adequate doctor-patient relationship with respect for the most elementary norms of bioethics.
