Enfermedad periodontal como un factor de riesgo en madres gestantes

Objetivo: Analizar la enfermedad periodontal como un factor de riesgo en madres gestantes. Método: Descriptivo documental. Conclusión: La evidencia sugiere que la enfermedad periodontal es un factor de riesgo significativo durante el embarazo, con potenciales implicaciones negativas para la salud materna y fetal, como el aumento del riesgo de parto prematuro y bajo peso al nacer. Aunque algunos estudios apoyan la eficacia del tratamiento periodontal en la reducción de estos riesgos, la literatura sigue siendo contradictoria, subrayando la necesidad de investigaciones adicionales con metodologías más rigurosas para clarificar estos efectos.
