La importancia del uso de sellantes en la segunda infancia para la protección de la cavidad bucal

Objetivo: Analizar la importancia del uso de sellantes en la segunda infancia para la protección de la cavidad bucal. Método: Descriptivo documental, se analizaron 15 trabajos de PubMed. Conclusión: Los sellantes dentales han demostrado ser una intervención clave en la prevención de caries durante la segunda infancia, proporcionando una protección eficaz en un momento crucial del desarrollo dental. Su aplicación en fosas y fisuras de los primeros molares permanentes no solo previene la aparición de lesiones cariosas, sino que también contribuye a la reducción de las disparidades en salud bucal, especialmente en poblaciones con acceso limitado a cuidados odontológicos.
