Objetivo: Analizar las funciones de cuidado de los profesionales de enfermería con el paciente en proceso de fallecer y el apoyo emocional a sus familiares. Método: Descriptiva documental. Resultados y conclusión: Los trabajos escrutados concuerdan que la muerte es un episodio natural en el ser humano, sin embargo, las reacciones emocionalmente son adversas ante estas, las enfermeras muestran ansiedad, estrés, necesitando ser preparadas con mayor pertinencia en el tema, siendo la simulación, la estrategia de mayor proposición para tener en cuenta en las carreras de enfermería.
