Abstract

The general objective of the research was to describe the development of mathematical competencies in regular elementary school students from a heuristic perspective. The present research was carried out from the quantitative paradigm, descriptive and complemented with a documentary-bibliographic design. It was also supported by a quasi-experimental design. Likewise, a population was considered, which consisted of 105 students, divided equally into three sections: A, B and C, all of them being fourth grade students of an educational institution in the jurisdiction of Chao. After the application of the calculation, the study sample is made up of 70 students. On the other hand, the instrument to be used will be a pre and post objective test. In conclusion, the development of training programs on heuristic strategies should be encouraged, as well as the monitoring and constant accompaniment in the classroom of the execution of the acquired knowledge.
