Utilización de las plantas medicinales y sus beneficios en la composición de productos odontológicos

Objetivo: Analizar la utilización de las plantas medicinales y sus beneficios en la composición de productos odontológicos. Método: Se realizó revisión documental en 15 articulos científicos publicados en PubMed, Scielo, Latindex. Resultados y conclusión: El estudio del rol de la medicina herbal en la salud dental revela múltiples beneficios de diversas plantas y compuestos naturales en el cuidado bucal. La uva, por ejemplo, con sus propiedades antioxidantes y remineralizantes, muestra potencial para fortalecer la estructura dental y prevenir la formación de biopelículas bacterianas. El nogal, con su corteza rica en minerales y efectos blanqueadores, promueve la protección contra bacterias dentales y mejora estéticamente la salud oral. Los fucoidanos de las algas marinas destacan por sus propiedades antiinflamatorias y anticancerígenas, ofreciendo aplicaciones prometedoras en la odontología. El uso del aceite de coco, conocido por sus propiedades antifúngicas y capacidad para reducir la placa dental.
