Abstract

Objective: To analyze the use of medicinal plants and their benefits in the composition of dental products. Method: A documentary review was made of 15 scientific articles published in PubMed, Scielo, Latindex. Results and conclusion: The study of the role of herbal medicine in dental health reveals multiple benefits of various plants and natural compounds in oral care. Grape, for example, with its antioxidant and remineralizing properties, shows potential to strengthen tooth structure and prevent the formation of bacterial biofilms. Walnut, with its mineral-rich bark and whitening effects, promotes protection against dental bacteria and improves oral health esthetically. Fucoidans from marine algae stand out for their anti-inflammatory and anticarcinogenic properties, offering promising applications in dentistry. The use of coconut oil, known for its antifungal properties and ability to reduce dental plaque.
