Abstract

Objective: To study the influence of family expectations on the choice of health careers by young people from UNIANDES Ambato - Ecuador. Method: Descriptive observational study. Results: 83% of the students indicated that their parents and relatives are the main source of financing for their studies. Conclusion: The influence of the family in the career choice of students in the health area is an important factor to consider. Likewise, the figure of a professional family member can be an incentive for young people aspiring to enter the Faculty of Medical Sciences. It is essential to provide adequate vocational and educational guidance so that students can make informed and autonomous decisions in their professional career.
