Abstract

Giardia lamblia infection is an intestinal infection signed by colic, swelling, nausea and episodes of watery diarrhea. The parasitic infection caused by the parasite Giardia lamblia commonly destroys the mucosa of the small intestine thus producing malabsorption syndromes. This reason for this study was proposed to carry out, whose main objective was to determine the incidence of intestinal infection by Giardia Lamblia in inhabitants of the land Corral de Tierra community, Canton 24 de Mayo. The population was conformed by the inhabitants of Corral de Tierra Community placed at 24 de Mayo Canton, being a total of 136 people. Authorizing each one of them by means of the informed consent to participate in this investigation. The research is based on the type of descriptive, prospective, cross-sectional study were used to develop and execute the present project where the epidemiological factors associated with parasitic infection by Giardia lamblia were known, among them: 30% is given by rural life, while a 22% by deficiency in education, 19% inadequate in the elimination of excreta, 15% in hygiene habits, 7% food habits. It is concluded that the factors epidemiological controls in the population predispose to have been found to contract parasites, it is recommended to conduct training campaigns on prevention as well as continuous deworming prior care controls.
