Impact of stress on the well-being of the older adult

Objective: to analyze the impact of stress on the well-being of the elderly. Methods: Descriptive documentary, 15 scientific articles published in PubMed were reviewed. Results: In metabolic terms, the decrease in autophagy with aging exacerbates cellular stress, contributing to frailty and physical deterioration in the elderly. Conclusion: The impact of stress on the well-being of the elderly is multifactorial, encompassing both physical and psychological aspects. Oxidative stress, metabolic deterioration and mental conditions, exacerbated by events such as the COVID-19 pandemic, significantly affect the quality of life of this vulnerable population.
