Abstract

Objective: To analyze euthanasia and the right to a dignified death from a psychological perspective. Method: Descriptive documentary. Conclusion: The review of the various emotional, ethical and moral aspects surrounding euthanasia reveals the intrinsic complexity of this issue, where respect for the autonomy of the individual and the preservation of human dignity clash with deep religious, cultural and social beliefs. Emotions of sadness, hopelessness and guilt in both patients and their families are intertwined with remorse and anguish, underscoring the need for comprehensive emotional support. The ethical dilemma about the role of health professionals and the possible social implications of euthanasia reflect a society torn between alleviating suffering and protecting the intrinsic value of life.
