Thyroid storm in 17 year-old adolescent

Objective: To analyze thyroid storm in a 17-year-old adolescent. Methods: Review of clinical history. Conclusion: Thyroid storm in adolescents is a rare but extremely serious endocrine emergency that requires early diagnosis and rapid, multidisciplinary therapeutic management. The variability in its clinical presentation in young people, along with the potential rapidity of progression, underscores the need for a high index of suspicion, especially in those with known risk factors. Implementation of aggressive treatment combining antithyroid therapy, life support and management of complications is crucial to improve outcomes and reduce mortality in this population.
