Abstract

Objective: To identify the knowledge of the application of the orthodontic dental kit in students undergoing orthodontic treatment in the dental career. Method: Descriptive observational. The population was 32 students from UNIANDES - Santo Domingo, Ecuador. Conclusion: 25.2% of the students reported no difficulties in their oral hygiene, a significant 21.8% experienced increased tooth sensitivity, another 21.8% plaque accumulation, 18.7% redness and swelling of gums, and 12.5% tooth pain. These results underscore the need for more effective and ongoing education on oral hygiene practices for orthodontic patients. The implementation of specific educational programs and the use of modern technologies to support oral hygiene education can improve adherence to recommendations and reduce the incidence of oral problems.
