Abstract

Objective: To analyze the prevalence of supernumerary teeth and their relationship with alterations in occlusion. Method: Descriptive documentary study, working with a population of 15 scientific articles. Conclusion: The presence of supernumerary teeth represents a significant challenge in contemporary dentistry, affecting both the clinical diagnosis and the treatment plan of patients. These extra teeth, due to their variability in number and location, may predispose to malocclusions and dental crowding, compromising masticatory function and facial aesthetics.
