Efficacy of ultrasonic irrigation and laser-activated irrigation in endodontics

Abstract

Objective: To analyze the efficacy of ultrasonic irrigation and laser-activated irrigation in the removal of bacteria and dentinal debris during root canal treatment.  Method: Descriptive documentary. Conclusion: It was confirmed that both Er:YAG laser and RinsEndo ultrasound are effective in root canal disinfection, without increasing the concentration of the irrigant solution and confirming a markedly improved disinfection effect with less movement of the solution in both regions of the canal. This increases the safety of the operator when performing irrigation inside the canal, avoiding accidents, and of the patient by not presenting complications or postoperative pain.
