Objective: to analyze coronectomy in surgery of lower third molars. Method: Descriptive documentary. Conclusion: In most cases where there is root and nerve involvement, coronectomy was a positive treatment option to significantly reduce the risk of postoperative sequelae, however, it is essential to follow up the patient to assess the outcome of the intervention and pay attention to any possible changes or complications that may require a new intervention and complete removal of the roots, however, the probability of nerve damage will be lower due to the migration of these, often after a considerable period of time following the clinical procedure.
