Objective: To present a case report for functional and aesthetic improvement by means of upper labial frenectomy. Methods: The case is presented of a 20 year old female patient who had been undergoing orthodontic treatment for approximately 1 month. Conclusion: Upper labial frenectomy is an effective and safe procedure to correct problems related to the labial frenulum. By removing or modifying the frenulum, greater upper lip mobility is allowed, which can improve speech function, chewing and facial aesthetics. In addition, this procedure is usually relatively simple and quick to recover from, with minimal discomfort and associated risks.
