Objective: To analyze Takotsubo cardiomyopathy and broken heart syndrome. Method: Descriptive documentary. Conclusion: Takotsubo cardiomyopathy is a surprising condition due to its clinical and diagnostic similarity with acute coronary syndrome, or AMI, so physicians should have an updated knowledge to avoid its complications, and underdiagnose this pathology that involves several changes in relation to its anatomical distribution, clinical signs and symptoms, electrocardiogram changes, cardiac enhancement, biomarkers, pathophysiology and therapeutic strategies.
