Abstract

Objective: to carry out an analysis of the laws that protect patients. Method: Descriptive documentary. Conclusion: There will always be a conflict of political interests when talking about state medicine, so these will not be thought around bioethical principles. In Ecuador, the legal bases that protect the patient, based on these principles, have different legal vacuums, which do not allow them to be applicable to the reality of what is lived. Prices are not standardized, nor are patient charges regulated by institutions, and at the public level, there is no solvency necessary for complete coverage. In one way or another, the patient ends up paying for health services.
