Abstract

Objective: To determine the risk factors for contracting STIs in the university population of the second semester of parallel C of the medical career at UNIANDES. Method: Descriptive observational study. Results: 65% of the respondents stated that they were informed about STIs, which is encouraging. However, 35% have no idea and these are more likely to contract an STI. 95% of the students surveyed have not been tested for STIs. Conclusion: It is concluded that a high proportion of students of both genders at UNIANDES have sexual habits that are not entirely risky, however, talks on aspects related to adequate sexual practices would be a good way to promote an optimal education on the topic of sexual and reproductive health and thus continue to prevent the spread of STIs.
