Mental and emotional health in medical students

Objective: To determine mental health and its associated factors in second semester university students of medicine, parallel B, Universidad Uniandes, Ambato - Ecuador. Method: Descriptive observational. Results and conclusion: It is necessary to take care of the mental health of the students, most of whom are overloaded with work, sometimes feeling overwhelmed, as well as depressed, becoming disconnected from reality, putting their general health at risk, but to a great extent they look at the positive side of problems. Of the 24 students surveyed, 12 representing the majority said that they feel overloaded with studies, while 11 indicated that they feel sad and overwhelmed, as well as depressed, while 12 indicated that they feel disconnected from reality and of the 24 indicated that only 8 frequently look on the positive side of problems, to the same degree at times.
