Objective: to determine the effects of the consumption of energizers on the academic performance of second year “A” medical students at Uniandes, Ambato - Ecuador. Method: Descriptive observational study. Results: 66.7% of the students surveyed stated that energizers do not help their academic performance. Results and conclusion: At the Universidad Uniandes, after conducting a study with students of 2 A of Medicine, it was concluded that young people in this career do not sleep enough to maintain good health, sleeping on average less than 7 hours a day, which seriously affects their ability to concentrate and, therefore, their academic performance. In addition, some of the students surveyed also consume this type of products, which further aggravates the situation. In general, it can be concluded that there is a close relationship between the consumption of energizers and academic performance, which seriously harms students.
