Nursing education intervention for oncology patients receiving chemotherapy treatment

Objective: to describe the effect of educational nursing intervention in oncology patients receiving chemotherapy treatment, by means of a literature review. Method: Documentary observational description. Results and conclusion: The nursing staff must keep themselves updated, trained, with constant innovation in topics related to cancer. In this way, the education provided will be based on scientific knowledge, which will serve as a guarantee of quality care for patients and their families. Continuous education and counselling for cancer patients from the beginning of their treatment is fundamental, it will resolve doubts and concerns, this will be useful to reduce fear, reinforce knowledge regarding the management of symptoms that will occur after receiving chemotherapy and encourage self-care.
