Abstract

Objective: To evaluate the conditions in which dental professionals work, as well as forced postures, physical effort and the number of repetitive actions they perform in their clinical practice. Method: Descriptive observational. Results: Among the actions and movements performed by the professional during dental care, 62% reported slow and regular movements, carrying out between 20 and 30 actions/minute. In addition, 51% of the professionals report maintaining instruments in a static manner for 2/3 of the time that each patient is receiving care. Conclusion: it could be evidenced that professionals are exposed to long working days with an average of 10 to 20 patients per day, causing greater physical and emotional stress; therefore, it is important to maintain a balance between the number of care and rest times that will allow the professional to reduce the risk of acquiring musculoskeletal disorders.
